I'm Trying to Match an Ingredient and it Says "Please select an ingredient with a compatible unit of measure"

If you are trying to match a custom ingredient with a food via our Nutrition API, and a notice appears indicating "Please select an ingredient with a compatible unit of measure" — this means that the food you have chosen from the database isn't compatible with the unit of measure of your ingredient.

For example, if you type in "1 piece Coconut Chips", Coconut Chips may exist in the Nutrition API, but if they are not measured in "pieces" then you will not be able to create a successful match.

In this case, you have two options:

1
Try changing the way you are measuring the ingredient based on what's reasonable for your recipe (ie: change "pieces" to "cups" or "grams") and try matching again.
2
Enter your own nutrition information for your custom ingredient and click the Continue button.

Note: Our Nutrition API scores each food returned by your query based upon your item's title, unit of measure, and category. The most compatible foods are marked with a green checkmark while incompatible foods are marked with an orange exclamation.
